Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Long Island, New York

Step back in time as you explore this historically-accurate 19th century American village. Built on two hundred acres of Long Island farmland, this living history museum includes around fifty houses, barns, and buildings dating from 1765 through 1865.

As you wander around the lovely grounds, you’ll meet guides in period costumes ready to share their experience of living in a pre-Civil war farming community. Artisans will demonstrate their trades, from blacksmithing to wool-spinning.

There’s a working farm with animals, sure to delight children of all ages. Try your hand at writing the alphabet on with chalk on slate boards in the one-room schoolhouse. Be sure to visit the general store, where guests can enjoy vintage-style handcrafted root beer, pretzels, and candy sticks.

Popular events include the annual Long Island Fair in the fall, a recreation of a traditional county fair, and baseball tournaments played the old-fashioned way.

The village is open Wednesdays – Sundays during the spring, summer, and fall.
